The student visa is only provided for those who buy courses with minimum length of 14 weeks. The school also must be registered on the program Study in Australia. The options which authorize the Visa are English courses (from basic to Advanced), technical courses, graduation and Master Bachelors Degree among others. The main characteristic of this Visa is the guaranty of stay in Australia for the course duration. As a student you can work up to 20 hours weekly*. Usually, the Australian Embassy accepts to stay one month after Visa’s expiration, as they consider that this extra time can be used as vacations and during this extra time you can work more than 20 hours a week. To request the Australian Visa you must respect the 14 weeks law. Otherwise the Australian Embassy will consider the request as tourism. At the end of the course you can choose for the Student Visa’s extension. In order to do that, you must enroll in another course and make the Visa’s renovation request at the Immigration Department in Australia (we’ll provide you the whole assistance in all procedures). Another option is the change of the Student Visa for the Tourism one, so you can travel around the country. Please note that once the change is made, you can not change back to Student in Australia, you will need to leave the country. You can renew your Student Visa but not change a Tourism Visa into a Student one. *This authorization is one of the benefits of the Student Visa. However, you must require a Tax File Number.
