As the most usual opportunities in a first moment are related to cleaning and services, make some free space at your luggage to bring some things you might need it.

  • Practice work vocabulary: For those who don’t know a word in English, it is interesting to do a quick English course before leaving, focused on work vocabulary. Schedule, Shift, Day-off, Vacuum and washing machine will be words used a lot during the day to day activities. Even going to Australia to learn English, the quickest you learn some few keywords, the quickest will be your adaptation.

  • Appropriate Clothes:  For those who already know a few words in English, wearing trousers, black belt, white shirt (for men and women) is important when you look for an opportunity in restaurants. Some opportunities for those who don’t speak English well are vacuum services, construction and washing dishes. So, put some old shirts and leather shoes in your luggage, so you can save some money to Australia.

  • Prepare your Resume before leaving: Before leaving to Australia you can contact Hello Australia offices for a Resume sample, so you can create your own document counting with our support. This will also save some time when you arrive in Australia.

Now is the time to make it happen.  Many students, when still don’t have a good English, get motivated when they get their fist job. This is a priceless feeling of victory. Are you ready?

  • Prepare your speech: The first thing to do is to get a bunch of copies of your resume and start distributing through the city. Keep in mind some key phrases and don’t feel embarrassed when talking to people asking for a job.

  • Prepare different types of Resume:  Put the right clothes and prepare your material. Prepare one resume highlighting your kitchen skills and experience. Prepare another one with your cleaning experience. This helps the employer to identify your skills. Go out with a bunch of them and distribute in the appropriate places.

  • Mapping your searching area: The best thing to do is to get a map and start writing down the name of the places where you had already left your resume at. So, when the employer calls it will help you to remember the location. It’s also good to avoid you delivering your Resume in some company twice.

  • Look at the school boards: At school you can check bulleting boards for job opportunities. At Backpackers you can also find some job offers.

  • Be punctual: If you didn’t understand what was told in a phone call, don’t feel embarrassed to ask for help. Don’t lose the opportunity!

  • Search on Internet: You can check for job offers posted by Hello Australia at the website www.sunbrisbane.com

  • Escape from the common areas: For those who are not having luck in the quest for a job, a good idea is to look for opportunities outside city center.  By looking for offers away from there, you may have more chances to find a job.

  • Use your friends’ network: Keeping a good network is very important at the search stage. The turnover happens a lot as many of them stay for a while and then come back to their countries so; there is always a chance to find a job. Talk to your classmates about your interest to work.
